Day 4, Photo 4

A year ago, Adam had not had cataract surgery.  We had no clue he'd need emergency surgery very soon.  He did not wear adorable glasses that magnify his beautiful blue eyes.  And if he hadn't had cataract surgery, during which his natural lenses were removed and replaced with IOLs (intra-ocular lenses), he would be blind today.  We'd be learning braille instead of learning letter sounds.  He'd be practicing with a white cane instead of learning to ice skate.  We might have a seeing eye dog instead of our new (old) dog Zoe.  I finally captured a photo where you can see the glint of sunlight reflecting off one of his IOLs (the one in his right eye).  At first glance, the photo gave me a little jolt because the light reflecting off that IOL reminded me of how his pupils looked, clouded by cataracts.  But the cataracts are long gone and it's highly likely they will never return.
