Adam update

It's been awhile since I've needed to post an Adam update, which is a huge blessing! And we are still blessed that Adam has excellent vision with his glasses, no "new" cataracts, and no signs of glaucoma. But we do have a very minor 'situation'. Adam has been sticking his index fingers betweens his glasses and closed eyelids and vigorously rubbing his eyes many times a day for the past two weeks. I was finally able to get him in to see the resident at the pediatric eye clinic at the U this morning. Both the triage gal and the resident asked me, "How long did he wear contacts before he got glasses?" so I knew they were seeing something amiss. I explained to them both that Adam never wore contacts; he had IOLs implanted immediately after his cataracts were removed. Apparently the inner parts of both his upper and lower lids are enflamed, appearing like "contact over-wear". Since he never wore contacts, they then suggested possible allergies but ruled that out since it's not allergy season and he has no other symptoms. When I let them know he'd had pinkeye about 4 weeks ago, they postulated his eyes have not completely healed from that?? We've been instructed to use artificial tears (more eye drops for the poor lil guy) four times a day for the next week or so. If he's still rubbing or if things get worse, we need to make another appointment - this time to see Dr. B himself. The resident assured me that things look good - Adam is seeing well, his pressures are great (i.e., no signs of glaucoma), no pus or other signs of infection. Please pray that this is just a tiny blip on the radar and doesn't blossom into something else.

my guess is allergies - could be Zoey - sad to say - but she is a different dog with different dander. You were never allergic to Sunny Bear when you were little cuz you grew up with her, but you are allergic to cats big time....I will be praying vigorously, but would mention that to the Dr. when you see him (if you need to see him that is) :-)

Actually that would be "him" for Sunny - not she....oops.

Good thought but I did mention we got a new dog and the resident didn't think there was a connection. But if it persists, I'll bring it up again with Dr. B.
