Stewart Family Potty Training; Day 1

Successes:

• Adam peed in the potty when urged to "go pee pee on this toilet paper right here" when a sheet was dropped in the bowl
• Adam went to daycare with undies on
• Rags was encouraged to bark before going outside each time today
• Rags was praised with "good outside" the few times I had to actually go out with him and witness his elimination
• When Rags began to enjoy a nice BM in the middle of the boy's room (see Setbacks below), he was successfully stopped before any poo hit the floor with a loud, "No!" and by grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and carrying him, cradle-style through the house, out the back door and to the yard where he finished releasing the half-exited poo and was then praised with "Good outside".

Setbacks:

• Adam returned home from daycare in a diaper and with a report that he likes to try sitting on the potty but has yet to pee anywhere but in his undies at Deanna's house
• Rags did not give any indication that he needed to have a BM before he crouched in the boys' room and started to squeeze one out
• Some frustration was experienced when Nikki (Sheri's sister, alternately known as Auntie Nikki) offered to read me the housetraining tips her Airedaile Terrier breeder sent home with her when they purchased their puppy and I realized I am doing everything right and still having little success.

The two culprits
