All in a day's (morning's?) work
Let's see...it's 7:30 in the morning and I've been out of bed since 6:10. It's no wonder that days fly so fast if the old adage, "Time flies when you're flying so fast around the house, you swear you're sprouting extra arms because you're spontaneously evolving mid-stride...I mean, when you're having fun" is true. So far today I've:
- poured cereal for Ryann and myself
- eaten my cereal
- started a list of things to pack for our trip to the cabin next week
- encouraged Ryann to clean up her breakfast dishes and herself, on her own
- given Rags his meds and fed him his breakfast
- poured cereal for Max and Adam
- been informed that Rags is smelly and needs a bath
- bathed Rags
- cringed and then lectured Max when he called out (while I was bathing Rags in the bathtub), "Mom! Guess what?! I opened the gummy vitamin container myself and and gave one vitamin to Adam and one vitamin to myself
- dried Rags
- let Rags run around the house on his own for a bit since he hasn't had an accident in the house in two and a half weeks
- found half the bowlful of milk from Adam's breakfast spilled across the table
- swabbed up said milk
- put Rags outside to go potty even though he hadn't rung his bell yet
- told Ryann she'd have to have a tea party with her Barbie's and stuffed animals for right now because I was too busy to sit down for tea at the moment
- helped Ryann find all the tea party implements in the basement when she swore she could not find them on her own
- was turning off the lights in the basement and heard Ryann bellow, "Maaaawwwwwmmmmm! It's an emergency"
- hauled butt up the stairs to see who was bleeding
- made it to Ryann's room and identified a steaming pile of poo on her carpet
- was informed Rags pooped on the carpet
- listened to Max yell (from the toilet, while making his own poo), "Wait!! Don't clean it up! I want to see it!"
- informed Max that I did not intend to let the poo cool while he finished his business just so that he could look at dog poo on the carpet
- ran for paper towels and "Nature's Miracle"
- scooped up the pile in one bundle
- soaked the offending area in "Nature's Miracle"
- spritzed Ryann's room with "Febreze" so that she could have a tea party minus the poo-funk in the air
- emerged from Ryann's room feeling victorious that I'd effectively dealt with the poo situation
- immediately noted I'd made a mistake in leaving the open box of "Cini-mini Crunch" too near to the 2-year-old
- heaved a sigh and considered the cereal a loss as most was in Adam's bowl and the rest was on the table, half soaked in spilled milk
- have moved from responding like, "Just a moment Sweetie, let me finish what I'm doing" to "Does it look like I'm available to take your garbage from you right now (since I was on my hands and knees scrubbing up the "Nature's Miracle")? Go put it in the garbage yourself!"
